The Golden State Warriors drafted Klay Thompson with the 11th pick in 2011. Since making his debut for the Dubs, Thompson has become a franchise legend, earning the nickname "Splash Brother" alongside Stephen Curry. However, after 13 years with the Warriors, Thompson left the organization earlier this season.

The 34-year-old signed a three-year, $50 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks. Klay will wear #31 with his new team, which is something his former teammate Draymond Green roasted him for.

"It's disgusting, it's nasty," Green said . "Somebody said to me, 'Yo, 31, that's Reggie Miller's number.' And I said, 'Yeah, but he's Klay Thompson.'"

Warriors plan to retire Klay's #11 jersey

Being a veteran in the NBA, fans associate Thompson with #11 on the back of his jersey. During his stint with the Dubs, the four-time champion never flaunted any other number.

Many fans will find the transition weird, and it will undoubtedly take some time to get used to it. On the other hand, the Warriors recognize the impact Klay had on the organization, and they will honor him for it—the franchise released a statement confirming that Thompson's #11 will be retired by the Warriors when he hangs up his sneakers.

    Green reacted to Thompson's departure

Thompson and Green shared the court for more than a decade. Evidently, the two stars formed a brotherly bond during their dominant run in the league. However, all good things come to an end, and Green shared his honest thoughts on Thompson exiting the Warriors after a terrific career.

"It was just like, 'Wow, all right. Congrats, bro; I'm happy for you. That's dope,' to obviously reassure that changes nothing for us. It changes the basketball court, obviously, but the relationships, they are what they are they are forever," the Warriors forward said.

Next time Green and Thompson share the court, they will face off against each other as opponents for the first time in their respective careers. The matchup will be circled on the calendars of NBA fans around the globe.
