    Here's how to get around The City during the San Francisco Marathon

    Over 30,000 runners will descend on The City this weekend for the 47th San Francisco Marathon , culminating with 13.1- and 26.2-mile races Sunday morning that transportation officials said will lead to numerous street closures and public-transit reroutes.

    “This will be a large citywide running event,” a San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency spokesperson said. “Traffic around the city will be affected as soon as the race begins.”

    Here’s what you need to know to get around The City on Sunday.

    San Francisco Marathon street closures by neighborhood

    The first set of racers in Sunday’s San Francisco Marathon will take off from the Embarcadero and Mission Street at 5:30 a.m., followed by a series of staggered starts. Racers will traverse through areas including the Presidio, Golden Gate Bridge , the Richmond district, Golden Gate Park and the Mission.

    Embarcadero: 12:01 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    King Street will close from 3rd Street to Broadway. Southbound Embarcadero will also be inaccessible from Broadway to Harrison Street.

    Fisherman’s Wharf: 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

    Vehicles are not allowed on Jefferson Street between Powell and Hyde streets.

    Marina: 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.

    Bay Street’s westbound lanes will close, as will northbound Laguna Street from Bay Street to Marina Boulevard. Officials will also cordon off the westbound lanes of Marina Boulevard to Yacht Road are also being cordoned off.

    Golden Gate Bridge

    Vehicle traffic on the bridge’s roadway lanes will stay open in both directions throughout the marathon.

    The east bridge sidewalk will open to bikes and pedestrians at 8:45 a.m., while the west bridge sidewalk will open at 10 a.m. to bikes only. The exit and parking areas on the south side of the bridge will stay open. The Vista Point parking lot and the Vista Point exit on the northeast side will close from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m.

    Alexander Avenue exit and Fort Baker: 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

    Alexander Avenue will only be open to Fort Baker traffic.

    Presidio, Golden Gate National Recreation Area: 12 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

    There will be no access to the Golden Gate Bridge through the Presidio from 12 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

    Crissy Field Avenue will also close from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. At the same time,, Mason Street and all intersections leading onto the road will close from the Marina Gate to Crissy Field Avenue. Additionally, Lincoln Boulevard and all intersections onto the road will be closed from the 25th Avenue gate to Lendrum Court.

    City officials said that Baker Beach residents can enter and exit their homes via the service road from Battery Caulfield. Traffic will be allowed to pass through Brooks Court and Baker Court via Lincoln Boulevard.

    Richmond district: 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

    Transportation officials said that eastbound and westbound vehicle traffic can expect delays at 26th and 27th avenues. Those streets will be closed to through traffic between Fulton and Lake streets.

    Intermittent cross-traffic is allowed on five streets: California, Clement, Geary, Balboa and Cabrillo avenues. Significant delays are expected. Residents west of 27th Avenue are encouraged to use Great Highway to Lincoln Boulevard.

    Golden Gate Park, Sunset and Richmond districts: 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.

    Southbound Crossover Drive to Transverse Drive at John F. Kennedy Drive will be closed. From 5 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., 19th Avenue to Blue Heron Lake Drive will also be inaccessible.

    From 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., the following streets are also closed: Sunset Boulevard at Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, 41st Avenue at Chain of Lakes and John F. Kennedy Drive at Chain of Lakes.

    Upper and Lower Haight: 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

    Travelers wanting north and south access through Upper Haight Street are advised to use Kezar Drive going from or to Lincoln Boulevard off Oak and Fell Streets.

    Residents heading north and south through Lower Haight Street are encouraged to use Steiner or Fillmore streets.

    Market Street: 6:30 a.m. to noon

    Westbound and eastbound traffic on, and s access to Market Street at Duboce Avenue and Guerrero Street will experience significant delays.

    Mission and Potrero: 6:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    Northbound and southbound traffic needing to get through 15th, 16th and 17th streets is encouraged to use Highway 280 or Highway 101 whenever possible.

    Significant delays are being expected on Valencia, South Van Ness, Folsom, Bryant and Potrero streets.

    Third Street detour: 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    Drivers will be rerouted through the area between Mariposa and 20th streets.

    Oracle Park, Mission Rock and South Beach area: 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    Terry Francois Boulevard will close during that time, with the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies set for first pitch at the ballpark at 1 p.m.

    Muni service changes

    The SFMTA will reroute the following bus lines as early as 5 a.m. on Sunday, with most travel disruptions stopping by 1 p.m.:
