49ers All-Pro LT Trent Williams a no-show due to contract issues
San Francisco 49ers All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams is a training-camp holdout due to contract issues, coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday. Williams, an 11-time Pro Bowl selection, is owed $74.76 million over the next three seasons but none of the money is guaranteed. He is entering the fourth season of a six-year, $138.06 million deal. "It's something I knew could be a possibility, and I was hoping that he would be here," Shanahan said of Williams. "But I knew it could be a possibility, and I feel pretty confident that it will all work out in the long run and...
Impactful 2-Out RBIs by Hernández and Lux Shake San Francisco Giants
Teoscar Hernández and the Dodgers continue to haunt the Giants, securing a 5-2 victory with all five runs scored with two outs, including Shohei Ohtani's impactful hits. Despite Tyler Fitzgerald's impressive performance, the Giants struggle to close out innings and generate runs, unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities presented by LA's pitching mistakes.

Yankees potential trade target: Matt Chapman
I’m writing this as DJ LeMahieu laces a line drive to left field for a hit, but I tend to think the Yankees need more help at third base than he’s able to provide at this stage in his career. The best options for infield boosts seem to come from the West, and Matt Chapman is no different. Manning third for the Giants, Chapman’s logged a league average bat while his legendary defense is a matter of some controversy.

San Francisco DA employee sues city after losing job over racy ‘reply-all’ email — claims sent by accident
A former San Francisco District Attorney’s staffer who lost his job over a “reply-all” email sent to his boss asking, “What color panties you have on,” claims the embarrassing message was sent by accident in a new lawsuit he filed against the city. Jovan Thomas, 56, filed the complaint on Friday, six months after San Francisco DA Brooke Jenkins and her employees opened their mailboxes to find the risqué reply from the trained victim advocate in response to an email from the city’s top prosecutor to staff, Mercury News reported. Jenkins’ office slammed the email as “misogynistic behavior” and...

Tyler Fitzgerald becomes first Giants rookie to homer in 5 consecutive games
LOS ANGELES (AP) — San Francisco infielder Tyler Fitzgerald became the first Giants rookie to homer in five consecutive games Tuesday night. Fitzgerald, though, did not want to celebrate, not with his team mired in a slump coming out of the All-Star break. “It’s cool and all, but it would have been definitely cooler if we would have won,” Fitzgerald said after the Giants 5-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. “At the end of the year I’ll look back on this and smile about it, but we lost the game. Really, not a whole lot good came from it.” Fitzgerald accomplished the milestone in the second inning, when he drove a slider from Los Angeles starter Landon Knack into the Dodgers’ left-field bullpen.
