Robbie Ray throws 5 no-hit innings in return after Tommy John surgery, leads Giants past Dodgers
Robbie Ray returned to the mound on Wednesday night for the first time in more than a year. Though his strange no-hitter bid came up short, Ray successfully led the San Francisco Giants to an 8-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ray threw five innings, had eight strikeouts and, despite the fact that he allowed a run in a wild first inning, didn’t give up a single hit in the win.
49ers training camp: Brock Purdy added pounds — and zip — in the offseason
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Brock Purdy has added a couple of pounds to his frame and a couple of ticks to his fastball. One of the biggest differences between the current training camp and last year’s is that the San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback no longer has to worry about his surgically repaired elbow. A year ago, Purdy had to take a day off after every two days of practice. This year, there are no restrictions and he’s taken every first-team snap since the spring.
Would Stephen Curry stay with a non-competitive Warriors team?
Stephen Curry has long said he wants to remain with the Golden State Warriors for the rest of his career. However, it is fair to ask if that would remain the case even if the Warriors were not competitive. In an interview with Marc J. Spears of Andscape, Curry was...

Robbie Ray returns as Giants bust game open late
ESTRAGON: The season’s finished. Let’s sell. VLADIMIR: We’re waiting for Robbie Ray. The long wait ended Wednesday night for the San Francisco Giants. Robbie Ray threw five no-hit innings in his first start in a Giants uniform, and the team, which seemed to be as stagnant and hopeless as characters in a Beckett play, broke out with a six-run 8th inning to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 8-3. They even stole a base! Twice!
Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw set for season debut vs. Giants

San Francisco’s Best New Pizza Is Coming From a Pop-Up, But Maybe Not for Long
The buzz around Jules, a pizza pop-up from a former Tartine baker and self-described "dough nerd," has been growing for months, and I can confirm it's not all hype. San Francisco has been blessed with a wealth of terrific pizza in the last decade and a half — particularly of the well-blistered, wood-fired variety, but also, more recently, of the burnt-cheese-crusted, Detroit variety. Still, none of these has risen to the level of Jules, a pop-up from Tartine alum Max Blachman-Gentile, where the combination of flavorful, yeasty, perfectly crisped crust and stellar topping combinations make for memorably delicious pies every time.

Eluemunor shifted to right tackle but got injured in the first camp session. Yes, But. The team's strategy of moving Eluemunor...

Electric ‘air taxis’ built in GA could offer a rideshare option in big cities. Here’s when
A billion-dollar company wants to replace taxis and rideshare apps such as Uber and Lyft with an electric helicopter service, and they plan to make the choppers in Georgia. California-based air taxi tech company Archer Aviation will soon manufacture its electric helicopters, which they call “eVTOL’s” –electric vertical take off and landing – in Covington.
ESPN's prediction for Brock Purdy's looming 49ers contract boasts staggering numbers

49ers All-Pro LT Trent Williams a no-show due to contract issues
San Francisco 49ers All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams is a training-camp holdout due to contract issues, coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday. Williams, an 11-time Pro Bowl selection, is owed $74.76 million over the next three seasons but none of the money is guaranteed. He is entering the fourth season of a six-year, $138.06 million deal. "It's something I knew could be a possibility, and I was hoping that he would be here," Shanahan said of Williams. "But I knew it could be a possibility, and I feel pretty confident that it will all work out in the long run and...
