    Topline:

The San Juan Creek bike and pedestrian trail will be closed until Aug. 2 due to construction of a new railroad bridge in San Juan Capistrano.

Why the closures: As construction of the railroad bridge over San Juan Creek continues, workers need to remove pavement and install support columns. The $65.6 million project will replace the current bridge, which was installed in 1917.

Because work will be ongoing, expect intermittent closures throughout August.

Detours: Cyclists and pedestrians can use Camino Capistrano, Del Obispo Street and the Trabuco Creek Trail during the closure. Signs will be posted.

If you have questions: A public outreach team will be on hand July 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to answer any questions at Descanso Park located at 32506 Paseo Adelanto in San Juan Capistrano.
