Crash on Highway 92 slows eastbound traffic on San Mateo Bridge
A five-car crash on eastbound Highway 92 on the San Mateo Bridge caused a partial closure Tuesday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said. Drivers on the bridge found the left and center lanes blocked at around 3:45 p.m. The Redwood City office of the CHP said there were complaints of pain among passengers involved, but no major injuries. All lanes opened just after 6 p.m. CHP has not confirmed what caused the crash.
Oakland police bust illegal casino after community complaints
OAKLAND, California - The Oakland Police Department has dismantled an illegal gambling operation on 17th Avenue following numerous complaints from residents. Officers executed a search warrant on October 17, 2024, uncovering firearms, cash, narcotics, and illegal gaming machines, according to a press release from the department.The operation, led by OPD's Special Resources Section West and VICE Unit, also resulted in the recovery of several stolen vehicles from the vicinity. Four individuals present at the site were arrested on various warrants, the department reported.The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact OPD's General Crimes Unit at (510) 238-3728.
