Police arrest teen after series of hateful graffiti at South Bay elementary school
A 15-year-old boy was arrested Friday in connection with several incidents involving hateful graffiti at an elementary school in San Diego's South Bay, police said. Officers took the teenager into custody during a high school football game at around 7 p.m., according to the Chula Vista Police Department. The boy, whose name was not released because he's a minor, faces felony hate crime and felony vandalism charges.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has added four explosives detection dogs to its K-9 unit’s ranks, officials announced Friday. The Labrador Retrievers, who are named Archer, Bear, Dexter, and Nalla, were trained in detecting explosives and firearms. They are considered a regional resource, which means they can answer calls from other law enforcement agencies.
