Come to the Cabaret — in Solvang
Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome! to Joe Masteroff’s Cabaret, coming to the Solvang Festival Theatre August 2–25! This production, part of PCPA’s summer series, is directed by Associate Artistic Director Emily Trask. For those who don’t know: the bones of this classic musical frame the anti-romance between an American and a showgirl who meet at the Kit Kat Klub in Berlin. The meat of the show is about living blindly, passively, refusing to attend to storms on the horizon.
Cal State trustees weigh bid to merge Cal Maritime, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
A steep drop in enrollment has put Cal Maritime, the smallest of the California State University’s 23 campuses, on a path to merge with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Under the plan, which will go before the Cal State board of trustees for discussion Tuesday, Cal Maritime’s 761 students would blend into San Luis Obispo’s 22,000-person student body with the goal of saving on overhead and ultimately attracting more students to the maritime academy.

Police arrested a 65-year-old Santa Barbara County man who engaged in an altercation with several juveniles for riding their e-bikes on the sidewalk. Art Center Morro Bay presents two new exhibits
– Art Center Morro Bay will present two new exhibits: “Yin and Yang” and the annual “Brushstrokes” exhibit. The “Yin and Yang” exhibit will be displayed in the Main Gallery. This exhibit invites artists to explore the dichotomies and harmony found in the Chinese philosophical concept of Yin and Yang.
