Seven fire engines responded to the two house fires. The first arriving engine found that “the upper portions” of both homes were on fire. Crews also said the garage and deck structures of the homes were fully engulfed upon arrival, SRFD said.

Firefighters said the fire was contained in about 30 minutes. Complete extinguishment took several hours, and SRFD said fire crews stayed at the scene throughout the night. No injuries to firefighters or residents were reported.

The fire also damaged a utility pole on Martens. SRFD said Martens BI will be closed between Ivy Lane and Oak Ave until further notice.

Fire crews started an investigation at 7 a.m. on Friday. There is no estimate of damage to the residences.
