Cold front will bring scattered to numerous showers and storms this afternoon
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Good Wednesday morning. Fair skies will start off the day with very warm and muggy temperatures in the middle to upper 70s. Some patchy but dense fog will be expected for the morning commute in locations that saw heavy rainfall with yesterday’s storms. Today is looking partly cloudy with some peeks of sunshine boosting temperatures quickly into the upper 80s to lower 90s, the heat index will still hover around 100 degrees before the rain arrives. A cold front is forecast to move across the Tennessee Valley later today and this will trigger scattered to widespread rain showers and storms for the afternoon and evening. Locally heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, isolated damaging wind gusts and small hail will be expected with any more organized and stronger storms developing later today.
Construction underway for Decatur ball fields
DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - Dirt is turning in the River City for a project to complete a new sportsplex. Decatur City Council President Jacob Ladner says by 2025, residents will see a state of the art facility with eight turf ball fields, a concession stand and a press box. Residents will also see a new rec center and several tennis courts.

North Alabama honors Father of the Blues with annual W.C. Handy Music Festival
The W.C. Handy Music Festival is returning to the Shoals. Music fans will join together by the thousands for the biggest tourism event in North Alabama. The festival boasts over 250 events and artists, spanning all across northwest Alabama. This includes Florence, Tuscumbia, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield and more.
