Two killed in fatal crash in Sandusky County
GIBSONBURG, Ohio — Two Sandusky county men were killed when the sport-utility vehicle they were traveling in crashed into a tree Sunday night, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. Andrew Widmer, 23, of Gibsonburg, was driving west on West Stevenson Street near North Patterson Street around 10:23 p.m. Sunday when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the tree, troopers from the patrol’s Fremont post said. Both he and his passenger, Emilio Chavez, 30, of Woodville, Ohio, were ejected from the vehicle, even though Mr. Widmer wore a seat belt. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Chavez did not wear a seat belt. The Lucas County Coroner’s Office scheduled autopsies for Tuesday on behalf of the Sandusky County Coroner’s Office.

GIBSONBURG, Ohio (WTVG) - Two men died after their vehicle crashed into a tree in Sandusky County Sunday night. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Andrew Widmer of Gibsonburg was driving a 1997 Jeep Wrangler west on W. Stevenson St. near N. Patterson St. when he lost control. After striking the tree, both were ejected from the vehicle. Widmer was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, though the passenger, Emilio Chavez, was not.
Sandusky County has assorted July Fourth celebrations
Sandusky County communities have Independence Day activities planned in the first week of July. Celebrations start in Woodville with the 82nd annual July Fourth Extravaganza at Trail Marker Park Wednesday through Saturday. The midway opens Wednesday at 5 p.m. On Thursday, a car show is set for 5-8 p.m. and a dance party at 6 p.m. at the front stage. Friday will include a 5k race at 7 p.m. and other evening entertainment.

SANDUSKY COUNTY -- A Jeep Wrangler crashed into a tree in Sandusky County, killing both occupants who were thrown from the SUV, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports. The driver, Andrew Widmer of Gibsonburg, and a passenger, Emilio Chavez of Woodville, were pronounced dead Sunday night at the scene in the village of Gibsonburg, the patrol said.
