Can't fit all the standout coasters and everything else you want to do at Cedar Point into a single day? Is the Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park just a bit too far away to drive in one day? Why not make a weekend of it?

The theme park has five resorts and campgrounds for visitors to extend their stay. Some of them offer their own attractions as a bonus to guests. Here's a look at them.

Hotel Breakers is the oldest place to stay near Cedar Point

Since 1905, Hotel Breakers on the shores of Lake Erie has been the resort that "started it all," according to the park.

Just steps away from the entrances of Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores, the hotel has 669 rooms and suites, most with balconies and waterfront views. It also offers a lakeside playground with pools, waterslides and beach access.

That means you can stay at what USA TODAY's 10Best called one of the country's best theme park hotels while enjoying one of the best amusement parks in the United States.

Lighthouse Point is steps away from Cedar Point's entrance

Lighthouse Point has 156 cottages and cabins, as well as 145 RV campsites available to rent, many on the shores of Lake Erie. Located on the north end of the park and just steps from the main entrance, the campground also offers a swimming pool, a convenience store and a series of planned activities.

Cedar Point's Express Hotel is minutes away from the park

Located in Sandusky, just minutes from the park, Cedar Point's Express Hotel is a convenient location to explore the city along with the amusement park. The hotel's courtyard features a heated pool and splash pad.

Castaway Bay a Cedar Point destination all its own

Castaway Bay is a destination all on its own.

The waterpark resort is open year-round and features 237 rooms and suites. And the hotel opens onto a 38,000-square-foot-indoor water park (heated to 82 degrees all year) complete with 100,000-gallon wave pool and 10 water slides.

If you're looking to stay dry, the resort also features a 6,000-square-foot arcade and a craft and child activity center, as well as a number of unique restaurants and retail shops.

Sawmill Creek sits next to Lake Erie minutes from Cedar Point

And if you're looking for something different, Cedar Point offers Sawmill Creek. The resort, on 200 acres of Lake Erie shoreline about 10 miles from the park, offers 239 rooms in a space designed to connect to the outdoors.

The venue features 35,000 square feet of meeting space with outdoor venues, an 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Fazio as well as two pools and five food and beverage spots.

For the true nature lovers, Sawmill Creek is adjacent to Sheldon Marsh, a 472-acre state nature preserve known to attract over 300 bird species.
