When massive parade floats start rumbling down the boardwalk at Cedar Point and the music swells, playing a signature soundtrack, you know Boardwalk Nights has begun.

The Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park's annual monthlong party begins Friday and runs through Aug. 18 (excluding Tuesdays). Here's a look at what's happening this year.

The nights begin with a parade, as well as music, daredevils and stunts

Boardwalk Nights kicks off at 7 p.m. with the Grand Opening Boardwalk Cavalcade, featuring parade floats, music and characters including Ms. Popcorn and Ms. Cotton Candy, according to a release from the park.

Across the boardwalk are performances from daredevils, fire manipulators, hand-to-hand human balancing teams, and synchronized kite flying artists, as well as the 40-foot Wheel of Destiny. The Boardwalk Brass Brigade, Singin’ SeaGals and Steamboat Swing Dance Party will provide live entertainment, while DJ Lemmy turns the Lake Erie beach into a dance floor.

Play games and enjoy tasty treats during Boardwalk Nights

If you're looking to be a bit more active, Boardwalk Nights offers plenty of games and competitions, like Boardwalk Ball on the 3-Point Challenge court, glow-in-the-dark volleyball, Hi-Striker, the Mini Wheel and Ring A Seagull. The last is a nod to Cedar Point's unofficial mascot.

When you're ready for a bite, the event has loaded foot long hot dogs with macaroni and cheese, pulled pork and barbecue sauce, as well as snacks like flavored popcorn and "colossal" cotton candy. Enjoy cocktails and lemonade/limeade shakers in flavors of watermelon jalapeño, strawberry basil and piña colada (also available without the alcohol).

The nightly finale includes fireworks, pyrotechnics and more

Capping the evening, Boardwalk Night's finale includes synchronized, close-proximity fireworks, pyrotechnics, and light and sound from the rooftops of the Dodgem bumper cars and Cedar Point Grand Pavilion.

Boardwalk Nights Bundle offers reduced admission

Guests looking to save on admission during Boardwalk Nights can purchase the Boardwalk Nights Bundle for $64.99, plus applicable taxes and fees. The package includes single-day admission to Cedar Point, general parking and $20 in Boardwalk Bucks for use in the park during the event.
