Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul will recount his experiences and assess the 10-day working trip he made to Israel with mayors from 12 other cities on Monday, July 8, at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.

“This opportunity was eye-opening and what I experienced weighs on my heart,” Paul said. “I had conversations with hostage families, ate dinner with the former mayor of Kfar Vrdem, one of our sister cities in Galilee, and listened as he recounted the challenges in the north.”

He will share photos and conversations he had on the trip during his presentation at 7 p.m. in the Studio Theatre at 1 Galambos Way. The presentation is open to the public and will conclude with a discussion.

The forum will be streamed on the City of Sandy Springs YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@CityOfSandySprings/streams .

The mayors’ hosts designed the trip to expose the group to the recent Hamas attacks and to equip them to counter the rise of antisemitism in their communities at home.

They met with city leaders of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Sederot, Ofakim, and Modiin Maccabim-Reut. The delegation visited Kibbutz Be’eri and the site of the Nova Festival.  They also met with survivors and family members of the victims of the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks.
