A community in Maine is grieving the deaths of two teenage step-brothers after their bodies were found - when they apparently drowned in a popular swimming area.

Tavayne Weir, 17, and his stepbrother D'andre Graham, 16, didn't return home after visiting the Holdsworth Park on Sunday, July 7, according to a release from the Sanford Police Department.

Sadly, their bodies were found on Monday July 8 in the Mousam River following an intensive overnight search, according to police. After the brothers missed their curfew, the Sanford Police Department was notified at 11 p.m. local time.

The release said: "Sanford Police along with Sanford Fire Dept. responded to Holdsworth Park and located the juvenile's vehicle. We don't know if they were jumping or just swimming because we don't know exactly what time they went in."

The release added that police don't suspect any foul-play, PEOPLE reported. The chief medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy on the boys to determine an official cause of death. Following the teens' tragic death, a GoFundMe page was created to help their family help transport their bodies back to Jamaica and be laid to rest there.

The page's description said: "They showed incredible courage and loyalty, holding on to each other until the very end, demonstrating the deep bond they shared.

"Tavayne and D'andre always considered each other brothers, and when their parents Kerryan and Morris got married last year, it made their brother bond official.

"They were more than stepbrothers; they were true brothers to each other. Growing up in Jamaica, they did everything together, from playing basketball and riding bikes to gaming."

It comes as a heartbreaking warning has been issued following the tragic death of a four-year-old boy who "slipped away" from his family home, leading to a frantic search that ended tragically with him being found dead in a backyard pool.

The Cleburne County Sheriff's Office shared on Facebook on Saturday, June 15, that the young Alabama boy vanished near the area of Cleburne County Road 49 and County Road 111 just before 6 pm local time.

Chief Barry Nolen of the Ranburne Police Department confirmed the devastating news in a Facebook post around 10.30 pm on Saturday, stating that the boy was found deceased.

"I would also like to ask everyone to please keep the family in your prayers," Nolan wrote. The child, identified as DJ Jarrell by Cleburne County Coroner Adam Downs, was found in a swimming pool at his family home.

"I can confirm the death of DJ Jarrell. A 4-year-old from Ranburne Al. He was found in a swimming pool in the yard of his family home," Downs said. No further details have been released by authorities, including how the boy managed to leave the house unnoticed.

Downs previously told AL.com that DJ "slipped away" from his home and was discovered in the pool after an extensive search lasting nearly two hours. The coroner has urged families with young children and swimming pools to be vigilant, as reported by the media.
