SANFORD, Maine — Tracy Gibson has been named the new school principal of Sanford High School.
"Tracy's educational background combined with her practical experiences are a great fit for Sanford High School," said Superintendent Matt Nelson. "We are excited for Tracy to bring her passion for education, leadership skills, and commitment to student success back to Sanford."
Gibson returns to Sanford High School after seven years as an administrator at Biddeford High School. She will succeed Amanda Doyle, who left to become the assistant superintendent in RSU 57.
Nelson said Gibson emerged as the top choice of the selection committee. They noted Gibson's qualifications, experience, and passion for the school's future set her apart from a pool of applicants.
"I am honored to be back at Sanford High School and look forward to working with the students, staff, and community," said Gibson. "Together, we will build on the school's successes and strive for even greater achievements. I am dedicated to promoting academic rigor, emotional well-being, and the development of essential life skills in our students."
At Biddeford High School, Gibson was the director of the Alternate Pathway Center, truancy/student services coordinator and curriculum team administrator.
Nelson said Gibson honed her skills in managing comprehensive educational programs and leading initiatives prioritizing the academic and social well-being of students.
In her various roles, he said Gibson collaborated effectively with stakeholders and built strong relationships with students, staff, families and community partners to meet the diverse needs of students.
Gibson started her educational career as a classroom teacher in Sanford and holds a bachelor of science from Simmons College and a master of education from the University of New England.
