    Bogeys rally late, upend Spinners in 10

    The Sanford Spinners were two strikes away from victory on Military Appreciation Night Tuesday at Tramway Park. They never got another chance.

    The first official Old North State League game for the Spinners in eight days was a tightly contested pitchers’ duel in which the team took the lead in the third inning and led all the way to the last out of regulation. With two out in the top of the ninth inning and the Spinners clinging to a 2-1 lead, a wild pitch got away from Sanford catcher Ashton Donathan on a 1-1 count to Bogeys batter Angel Lobo. This allowed Reco Coney to score the tying run from third base even though pitcher Austin Renn eventually struck Coney out to end the inning.
