Police say on July 9, just before 5 p.m., a group of five people were driving in the area of Greenwood Avenue near Church Avenue around 5 p.m. when they encountered a gunman. Video from the scene shows the vehicle they were in had gunshot holes in it.
The vehicle was recovered by the Sanger Police Department.
According to police, officers responded to a call about an injured person and found 19-year-old Rosalynn Moreno of Madera with a gunshot wound to her neck and 18-year-old Juan Manuel Morales also from Madera with superficial injuries.
The investigation revealed that the victims and three other friends were driving near Greenwood and Church Avenues when they saw the suspect. Police say after an exchange of words, the suspect produced a handgun and fired at the vehicle. The vehicle then sped away and the suspect fled.
Police say on Wednesday morning members of the Sanger Police Department and members of the Fresno County Adult Compliance Team (ACT) served a warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Lynn Court.
According to police, during the warrant service, the suspect, a 15-year-old male juvenile, was taken into custody. Police say the 15-year-old is a known gang member with a prior misdemeanor criminal history.
He was booked into Fresno County Juvenile Justice Center on suspicion of multiple felony charges, including attempted homicide.
