The search for a missing swimmer near Sanibel Island that prompted response from local and state authorities has entered its third day.

Officer Bradley Johnson, spokesperson for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, on Tuesday said they were assisting the Lee County Sheriff's Office and Sanibel Police with the search for a missing teen boy at Blind Pass Beach.

While Sanibel police is leading the search, Jessie Santero, spokesperson for the Lee County Sheriff's Office, said they have been assisting with multiple marine assets and aviation units.

Eric Jackson, a city spokesperson, said two swimmers were rescued while the search continued for a third swimmer. He declined to identify the missing boy.
