Missing Sanilac County woman found safe after 24 hours
SANILAC COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) - The search for a missing 74-year-old woman with Alzheimer's disease reached a happy ending in the village of Forestville Monday. Family members reported that Sharron Perkins was last seen walking away from her residence around 10 a.m. Sunday. Several police and fire crews from the Thumb region responded to launch a search Sunday.

It is with deep sadness that the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of esteemed retired Sheriff Virgil Strickler on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Sheriff Strickler started his law enforcement career in 1971 in the City of Sandusky following a tour in the United States Air Force of which he would also complete a tour in Vietnam. Sheriff Strickler dedicated 20 years of service to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, leading with integrity, courage, and a steadfast commitment to the community.
Missing elderly woman found safe in Sanilac County
Authorities in Sanilac County located an elderly woman who was reported missing by family members Sunday after wandering away from her Forestville-area home on Sunday morning. According to a press release from the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office, the family of Sharron Perkins called central dispatch operators about 10:48 a.m. Sunday to report the 74-year-old woman with Alzheimer's disease and dementia had walked away from a residence on Bay City-Forestville Road in the village of Forestville and had been missing for about 40 minutes.
UPDATE: Swim advisory in effect for 8 beaches in St. Clair, Sanilac counties
A swimming advisory is in effect for eight beaches St. Clair County and Sanilac County, according to each county’s health department early Wednesday. Advisories against swimming were issued for Chrysler Beach in Marysville; Holland, Lakeside, and Lighthouse beaches in Port Huron; and Keewahdin and Fort Gratiot County Park beaches in Fort Gratiot, citing elevated levels of E. coli detected in water samples. ...
