The 28-year-old head track coach at Godinez High School in Santa Ana was arrested for allegedly contacting minors with the intent of committing a sex crime, authorities said Monday.

Aaron Raya was taken into custody Sunday at his Santa Ana home and booked into the Orange County Jail, according to a Santa Ana Police Department press release.

Police received a call earlier in the day from the mother of a student coached by Raya who found inappropriate text messages between her minor daughter and Raya, the release said.

The investigation showed Raya began communicating with the student through social media during the school year about track events and began contacting her in a sexual manner and attempting to meet with her after she graduated, police said.

Special Crimes detectives identified two more minor victims and former Godinez students who alleged Raya made sexual advances toward them, police said.

Raya was in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail booked on a sex-related charge, police said.

Detectives believe there could be additional victims and asked anyone with information to contact Det. M. Thomas at 714-245-8346, mthomas@santa- ana.org, or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
