Santa Clarita Weekend Crime Sees A Slew Of Arrests, Including Murder And Rape

Over the weekend, local law enforcement agencies were busy with a plethora of arrests, including major crimes such as murder and rape.

On Friday, a 28-year-old Fullerton man by the name of Raul Cervantes was arrested by Santa Clarita sheriff’s deputies for allegedly raping someone while the victim was “unconscious to the nature of the act”, according to arrest records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Cervantes was released later Friday evening on $100,000 bail. If convicted, he can spend up to eight years in prison.

A 29-year-old Valencia man was arrested twice over the weekend on allegations of murder, the first time being released for a lack of sufficient evidence under Section 849(b)(1) of the California Penal Code, according to arrest records.

Another notable crime was the arrest of a 27-year-old transient who was booked for robbery.

Outside of these notable incidents, there were a handful of violent crimes, such as assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence, that had two people arrested. An individual was apprehended for the possession of a stolen vehicle and another for the public display of a loaded firearm, both of which are not violent crimes but are on a felony scale.

In addition to that, there were several misdemeanor arrests for DUI and entering an occupancy without the owner’s consent.
