Santa Clarita native Allyson Felix is one of the most decorated women in Olympic track and field history. She continues to be a needle mover in the Olympics, but this time, it is off the track.

Since the 11-time Olympic medalist and mother of two retired in 2022, she has stepped up in her role as a maternal health and women’s rights activist. Felix is so dedicated to the cause that she joined the Athletes’ Commission at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to be a “voice for athlete moms.”

In her fight for advocacy, she partnered with Pampers to create the first nursery in the Olympic Village for athletes with kids.

“I just knew how difficult it was to compete at the top level after I had my daughter and some practical things were really hard. And so when I joined the Athletes Commission of the IOC , I really wanted to be that voice for athlete moms and just take away one less thing for them to worry about in the pressure of competition,” Felix said via statement.

Olympian parents will have a place to leave their children while they compete in the Paris Olympics in the Olympic Village’s Pampers Nursery. The nursery is for kids of “diaper-wearing age” and can be used for its play areas, changing stations and private breastfeeding spaces.

While this is the first time Felix and Pampers have done something for the Olympics , it isn’t the first time the two parties have partnered together. This summer, they joined forces to donate up to one million diapers to support preemie families at Children’s Hospitals.

Apart from her involvement with Pampers, Felix established a childcare fund in 2021 to assist mother-athletes. She also received a $20 million grant from the Melinda French Gates Foundation to promote maternal health among Black women.
