Over the weekend, DUIs rose to the top of the list for the most common cause of arrests in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and the California Highway Patrol Newhall Office made 12 arrests, half of them for DUI or some other form of impaired driving.

The second most common reason for arrest this past weekend was domestic violence, which led to three people being arrested in separate situations.

Other notable crimes over the weekend include burglary, throwing items at a vehicle with the intent to cause injury and an inmate who was in the possession of drugs.

Of the 12 people arrested, half were non-residents of Santa Clarita, coming from Pomona, Pacomia, Hollywood and the rest from the Antelope Valley.
