A man died after his truck crashed Sunday night into some trees near the census-designated place of Mount Hermon in Santa Cruz County, the California Highway Patrol said.

According to CHP Santa Cruz, a 34-year-old Felton resident was driving a 2008 Ram 1500 pickup truck on southbound Graham Hill Road north of Quarry Road at 9:14 p.m. when for reasons unknown, the vehicle veered off the roadway.

The truck crashed into a couple of trees and rolled over.

The CHP said due to his severe injuries, the driver died despite being given medical treatment.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash. According to the CHP, it is yet to be confirmed if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff Coroner's Office will release the identity of the victim, the CHP said.
