Alec Baldwin hasn't put what happened on the Rust set behind him.

The actor was emotional when Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer delivered her verdict that his involuntary manslaughter charges were dismissed with prejudice. The defense argued that evidence was hidden from them throughout the process. The judge called it a "needless and incurable delay" of justice that the evidence was not brought forward sooner.

According to documents obtained by TMZ , Alec wants to sue the prosecutor Kari Morrissey and Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza for withholding evidence from his defense team during the trial.

The prosecutor argued that the evidence, which was ammunition from the scene, was not important to the case and did not disclose it to Alec's defense team.

The actor was charged with involuntary manslaughter of the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the Western film Rust in October 2021. The incident also injured director director Joel Souza. He originally pleaded not guilty to the charge. If he were to be charged, the actor would have faced up to 18 months. Alec began trial on July 10 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. On the third day of trial, on July 12, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dropped the charge against the 66-year-old and dismissed the case with prejudice.

Alec was then seen smiling on the streets of New York City on Saturday, July 13. He was accompanied by his wife Hilaria Baldwin, who was also supporting him at the trial, and arrived in a private jet. He was also joined by the rest of his family. He was seen wearing a blue polo shirt with a navy blue jacket over it, blue pants and black shoes as he met up with some of his children.

Alec broke his silence after the verdict the same day on Instagram and posted a picture of himself in court. He wrote: "There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now. To all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family."
