The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association’s (WIAA) competitive balance initiative will be in effect for the 2024-25 sports season. The initiative moves school programs up a Division after reaching a threshold of tournament success based on a performance point system that is accrued over a three-year period. School programs that reach the six-point performance standard during a three-year stretch are placed in the division with the next largest set of enrollments. For the sports that use brackets for postseason play, teams get one point for advancing to state quarterfinals, sectional finals or Level 3 in the case of football. Advancing to a sports state semifinal is worth two points. Playing in the state championship is worth three points and winning a state title is four points.
