Santa Monica City Council is debating whether they should expand E-Scooters or have a complete ban on the electronic devices.

KNX News’ Jon Baird reported city staffers are proposing a change that would allow for money companies to operate E-Scooters in Santa Monica. However, Santa Monica Mayor Phil Brock said the city should just get rid of them because he thinks they clutter the sidewalk and can be dangerous.

Santa Monica residents have mixed feelings on whether or not the city should ban the E-Scooters.

“I agree, I think they’re like, they’re kind of getting out of control. I mean, people leave them everywhere. You know, they just need to make some kind of program to keep them in check,” one man said.

Santa Monica officials could make their decision on the E-Scooters soon.

Other cities in Southern California, like Beverly Hills, have already banned E-scooters. West Hollywood recently decided to keep the electric modes of transportation and create their own permanent mobility program.
