    Missing swimmer in Russian River found dead, ID'd as Santa Rosa man: authorities

    ( KRON ) — The swimmer, who crews were searching for last week , reported missing in the Russian River was found dead, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) announced Sunday on social media. The victim was identified as 28-year-old Santa Rosa man Nasoni Tuitoga.

    The victim was first reported missing after authorities received a call of a possible drowning in the Russian River near Villa Grande around 6:20 on Wednesday, July 3.

    Search efforts continued on Thursday morning. However, crews found the swimmer dead on Friday afternoon, according to SCSO.

    The beach is about a mile south of the census-designated place of Monte Rio. The circumstances around Tuitoga’s death are unknown at this time.
