It’s only been a little over four months since comedian, author, TV and podcast host Chelsea Handler last visited Santa Rosa, but she’s back again Friday.

Handler last appeared at Luther Burbank Center for the Arts on April 14 as part of her ongoing worldwide “The LBB Tour” (or “Little Big B*itch”).

“We sold out the show so quickly, and we wanted to do a second show, but we couldn’t because we were already booked somewhere else the next night, so this is our second show,” Handler said by phone from her Los Angeles home earlier this week.

During her last visit to Sonoma County, she dined at Bravas Bar de Tapas in Healdsburg and posted photos from her time at Bravas on Instagram and Facebook.

“I love that place. It’s one of my favorite restaurants. We go there every time,” she said. “I usually find a place wherever I go, and go back there.”

Handler has a long history in television, including a seven-year run as host of “Chelsea Lately” on the E! channel, but currently she is focused on stand-up comedy.

“This is my third tour in four years, and I’m loving it. I love being the reason people get together to laugh,” she said.

“I’m a bit of a vagabond,” Handler added. “I’m a ‘live-in-the-moment’ kind of person. I love to travel. With TV, you’re tied down in one place for a while.”

The most tied-down Handler will be in the near future is a two-year residency at the Chelsea Hotel (she finds the hotel’s name a good omen) starting in September in Las Vegas, where she’ll appear once a month.

And there are other projects. Her podcast, “Dear Chelsea,” launched in 2021, has been renewed for four more years and she’s planning a seventh book. The first six were New York Times bestsellers.

“There’s not much I’m thinking about doing that I haven’t done yet,” Handler said. “I’m just celebrating the freedom of living my life the way I want to live it.”
