Milton elementary school replacing playground equipment after failed safety inspection
SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. -- A Santa Rosa County teacher raised concerns after learning her kindergarten students were losing their playground equipment. In an email, the teacher at W. H. Rhodes Elementary School says the playground was being demolished without warning. WEAR News saw crews haul away the equipment on Wednesday.
Escambia Woman Seriously Injured In I-10 Crash
An Escambia County woman was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash on I-10 in Santa Rosa County on Wednesday. The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the wreck about 10 a.m. with a possible ejection. The 31-year-old woman was airlifted to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. An 11-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was seriously injured, and a 45-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries. Both passengers were from Florala, Alabama.

Escambia County sees double-digit increase in COVID-19 cases. Here's what to know
COVID-19 cases in Escambia County are on the rise, according to the latest numbers from the Florida Department of Health, with a double-digit increase compared to last week. Numbers in Escambia County saw a sharp uptick between June 14-21, rising from 45 cases to 73, which represents a 62.2% jump. Santa Rosa County saw a much smaller increase, rising from 42 to 44 cases, a 4.76% increase.
