Female Cyclist Dies In Osprey Accident
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is assisting the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) with a fatal crash investigation. At approximately 11:38 p.m. Thursday evening, an on-duty SCSO deputy struck a female bicyclist at the intersection of East Bay Street and North Tamiami Trail in Osprey. The deputy, who was initially responding to a call for service in a patrol vehicle, immediately stopped to provide aid to the victim. Additional deputies arrived and provided life-saving efforts, however, the female succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The deputy was uninjured.
