As the 2024-25 Sarasota Schools academic year draws near , there are some essential dates to mark on your calendar.

Some dates are national holidays, where students don't have school. Other dates include the first and last day of school, as well as different holiday breaks such as Thanksgiving and Spring Break.

If there were days when the school district closed schools because of inclement weather, such as a hurricane, the district would make those days up in the dates following the last day of school, according to the district's posted calendar.

Here are the days you should mark from the 2024-25 Sarasota Schools calendar :

First Day of School: Monday, Aug. 12, 2024.

Labor Day: Monday, Sept. 2, 2024.

Professional Day (No School) : Friday, Oct. 18, 2024.

Thanksgiving Break: Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, through Friday, Nov. 29, 2024.

Winter Break: Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, through Friday, Jan. 3, 2025.

Professional Day (No School): Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Monday, Jan. 20, 2025.

Presidents Day: Monday, Feb. 17, 2025.

Professional Day (No School) : Friday, March 14, 2025.

    Spring Break : Monday, March 17, 2025, through Friday, March 21, 2025.

Mini Break: Friday, April 18, 2025.

    Memorial Day : Monday, May 26, 2025.

Last Day of School: Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
