Wavaires will present preview show
GREENVILLE — The Greenville High School Wavaires will begin preparations for the 2024-2025 school year with their Wavaire Camp, starting July 29. On Friday, Aug. 2, 7 p.m., the Wavaires will present their 2024-2025 preview show at Memorial Hall. The show will consist of a variety of material learned throughout the camp week. Selections may include “Footloose”, “You’re the One that I Want”, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”, “SOS”, “Finale B”, and “Never Enough” from some of your favorite films. Additional selections may include “Permission to Dance”, “Flowers”, “Sunroof” and “Proud Mary”.
Congressman Mrvan announces $963,000 in funding for Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana
HAMMOND, Ind. (WNDU) - A beacon of educational excellence and innovation for the last 25 years in Hammond is getting nearly $1 million in funding. Indiana 1st District Congressman Frank Mrvan and board members of the Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana announced that the center will receive $963,000 in community project funding during a news conference on Friday morning.
Opioid settlement fund fuels anti-addiction battle in Indiana
Indiana is stepping up its fight against addiction with a boost from an opioid settlement fund. The money comes from a $54 billion 2021 Opioid Settlement Fund created by manufacturers, distributors and retailers to address their role in the nation's opioid epidemic. Indiana will receive $508 million from the fund over the next several years.
Wayne HealthCare to hold active shooter drill July 31
GREENVILLE – Wayne HealthCare, in collaboration with the Greenville Police Department, Greenville Township Emergency Services, Greenville Fire Department, and the Darke County Sheriff Department will be conducting an active shooter drill on Wednesday, July 31. The drill will begin at approximately 8 AM and is expected to last for 3 to 4 hours.
Greencastle man arrested after reported burglary leads to police chase
WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. — A Greencastle man has been arrested in relation to a reported chase with law enforcement after an alleged burglary on Monday near Hagerstown. According to a post on the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office’s social media page, 31-year-old Michael Sensebaugh has been preliminarily charged with residential entry and resisting law enforcement in relation to the alleged burglary.

Alleged rapist released on personal recognisance bond, possible ICE pick up
GREENVILLE — Alleged rapist released on personal recognisance bond. Judge Travis L. Fliehman presided. Ciro T. Rivera, 42, of Greenville, appeared in court via video conference with the jail for a one count indictment for rape, a felony of the first degree. Rivera also has pending charges in the Municipal Court for one count of gross sexual imposition. The defense had filed a motion to dismiss the case on the basis of Rivera not receiving a speedy trial.
