Wyoming Legion Baseball ‘A’ State Tournament Scoreboard: July 27-31, 2024
Powell hosts the 2024 Wyoming American Legion Baseball Class ‘A’ State Tournament from July 27-31. It is an eight-team, modified, double-elimination bracket. The Powell Pioneers are the defending Class A State Champions. It was their first championship since 2010. Six of the eight teams were in last year’s field. Also, thanks to a gate sponsor, there is no fee to attend the games.

Air quality alert issued for Natrona County due to wildfire smoke
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Much of eastern Wyoming is now under an air quality alert until 1 p.m. Wednesday. On Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne stated that Casper and other parts of the state are currently experiencing poor air quality conditions due to wildfire smoke originating from Canada and the Pacific Northwest.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Today, residents and visitors in Cheyenne will experience smoky skies and high temperatures. As Cheyenne Day for Frontier Days unfolds, smoke from Canadian and northwestern U.S. wildfires will drift into the area. CHEYENNE, Wyo., July 22, 2024 — The 128th Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo could be life-changing for Kansas cowgirl Chelsea Moore. Riding her five-year-old gelding, The Kandyman, that she calls Jackson, Moore stopped the clock in 17.07 seconds to win Quarterfinals 4 of the rodeo and advance to the Semi Finals. Prior to Cheyenne’s rodeo, the mom of two was ranked 40th in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association world standings.

CASPER, Wyo. — Fire crews are working a wildland fire on the east side of Casper Mountain on Tuesday, July 23. A Casper Firefighters Facebook post around 5:30 p.m. said that the Natrona County Fire District, Evansville Fire-EMS and Bureau of Land Management are engaging resources, including a helicopter.
Family Planning Receives Grant for New Equipment
ROCK SPRINGS – Western Wyoming Family Planning is the recipient of a grant that will help it purchase new equipment. The United Way of Southwest Wyoming recently awarded the organization a $7,275 grant to purchase a new exam bed, exam light, a colposcope, and an Autoclave. Alex Roberson, the director of Western Wyoming Family Planning, said the new equipment not only upgrades what they already have but also helps improve the services they offer. The light in particular is a needed upgrade because Roberson said the clinical provider often uses her chin to readjust it while conducting an exam.
