Willacy County Regional Detention Facility approved for full operation
HIDALGO, Texas — The Texas Commission on Jail Standards has approved the Willacy County Regional Detention Facility for full operation under La Salle Corrections. The regional detention facility, which met all state inspections and obtained necessary certifications, began operations with the transfer of inmates from the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office Detention Center. A total of 450 inmates are scheduled to be housed at the Willacy facility once it is fully populated.

Suspect in custody after traffic stop in Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A suspect involved in an incident with a Nueces County Sheriff's Office deputy has been apprehended following a traffic stop, authorities said. On July 26, 2024, at 8:40 p.m., the U.S. Marshals Task Force and the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) Gang Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 5700 block of S. Alameda. The stop led to the identification and arrest of Guadalupe Calderon, who was involved in an incident with a Nueces County Sheriff's Office deputy the previous day, according to the Nueces County Sheriff's Office. A weapon was also recovered during the arrest.
