Missing kayaker from Sarona found safe in St. Croix Falls

SHELL LAKE, Wis. (WKBT) -- A missing kayaker from Washburn County was found safe on Tuesday.

19-year-old Gunnur Hess of Sarona was reported missing last week after he didn't return from kayaking on Namekagon River.

On June 14, Hess was supposed to start at County K Namekagon River access and contact his family when he was done. He was not heard from, but his truck was found at the County K landing.

On Monday the Washburn County Sheriff's Office shared a press release declaring Hess missing. He was located safe on Tuesday by DNR Wardens in St. Croix Falls.
