New Byron ice cream shop celebrates National Ice Cream Day
BYRON, Ill. (WIFR) - Less than a year after Sam’s Drive-In in Byron closed, a new ice cream shop makes its way to Byron. “Growing up, being a kid in Byron, we’d go there,” said Katrina Kirby, owner of Sundae Social. “I mean, that was a huge memory for us going to Sam’s Drive-In. Since they’re no longer open, we kind of just wanted to fill that void.”
Chow Down Food Truck Fest kicks off in Rockford
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Hundreds of area foodies sink their teeth into multicultural cuisine during Saturday’s Chow Down Food Truck Fest. Residents hungry for something new visited the Rockford Chow Down Food Truck Festival on 5909 E. State Street. During the weekend, the festival will highlight unique cuisine from food trucks and vendors from across the stateline.

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Partly sunny skies this afternoon helped temperatures to warm back into the low 80s for most of the area, a little warmer than what we saw yesterday. Clouds bubbled up in the warmth of the afternoon, however most of the area did stay dry. A few isolated showers popped up in parts of western Iowa, but those showers should fade away by 7pm as we start to cool off. Temperatures will drop back into the 70s after sunset, and we should see temperatures in the 60s once again overnight. Just like we saw early on Sunday, some patchy fog is likely late tonight and early on Monday.
