That’s how some of the first guests have described Crave kitchen and cocktails, which marks its grand opening Friday at 3801 N. Perryville Road inside the completely overhauled former Camera Craft space.
Sac City’s Cattlemen’s Steakhouse Celebrating Manger Being Recognized As Iowa’s 40 “Women To Watch” In Hospitality Industry
The restaurant manager for the Cattlemen’s Steakhouse in Sac City has been named one of the “40 Women to Watch” in Iowa’s Hospitality industry. Chelsea Funk has been nominated for her exceptional customer service skills, displaying a passion for her customers, the Cattlemen’s Steakhouse team, and the business. Funk has worked in service for most of her life, working in her mother’s bakery before becoming a server at the popular Sac City restaurant. It was not uncommon for customers to request to sit at one of Funk’s serving tables. A promotion to shift manager came quickly to Funk. She started working on the bar portion of the restaurant, spending almost a year and a half developing one of the top state craft cocktail and bourbon menus alongside the 2024 Top Mixologist Ellie Rastetter. Funk was nominated by her team, being defined as the “very essence of hospitality.” All 40 award winners will be recognized during the Iowa Restaurant Association Annual Celebrating Excellence Awards Ceremony on November 18, part of the Iowa Hospitality Showcase.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Pickle enthusiasts celebrated their favorite snack and played Pickleball games during a weekend event on Rockford’s west side. La Salle County Nursing Home, Arc of Streator Hit with Significant State Fines in Q2
Some long-term-care facilities in Starved Rock Country have landed on a list they don't want to be on. The La Salle County Nursing Home, and Arc of Streator, have each been hit with fines of $25,000 by the Illinois Department of Public Health. The state agency has issued its most recent quarterly report, and says a number of homes join the facilities in violating the Nursing Home Care Act. The county home and Arc of Streator were specifically cited for falling short in a number of areas, including following comprehensive resident care plans, having written policies and procedures governing all services provided by the facility, and keeping the facility free of accident hazards whenever possible. Other area facilities were hit with fines, too. Sandwich Rehab has been fined $7,100. Pleasant View Lutheran Home in Ottawa owes $2,200 in fines from the second quarter, as does Arcadia Care of Morris.
Dubuque Man Attempted To Use Gun During Arrest
Authorities reported that a Dubuque man attempted to use a weapon during his arrest. Kentrell V. Powell, 28, was taken into custody at 10:58 p.m. on Thursday, facing multiple charges such as interference with law enforcement involving a firearm, assault on certain professionals with a weapon, fifth-degree theft, possession of a firearm by a felon, and public intoxication.
