SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Some may argue that hot dogs, hamburgers and potato salad are quintessential Fourth of July foods.

However, with Savannah’s diverse cuisine, some may look back to see what they want to sink their teeth into this holiday.

Here are a few vintage recipes that locals may be enjoying this year.

Does southern fried chicken — without all of the bells and whistles, made the simple, old-fashioned way — ever go out of style? Just sprinkle the chicken with salt and pepper, dredge in flour, fry and enjoy!

Grits is a food of Native American origin that is common in the southern United States. They can be served in many ways, including with grated cheese and a protein.

For many generations, during peach season, some of Georgia’s roads have been dotted with farm stands selling fresh peaches. This salad can bring back memories of enjoying the juicy fruit with loved ones.

The way many grandmothers made them deserves another taste.
