Teen killed in Savannah shooting; suspect arrested

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The Savannah Police Department (SPD) is investigating a shooting that left a 16-year-old dead.

Around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to 49th and Florance Street for a report of gunfire.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim suffering from a serious gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, and he later succumbed to his injuries.

Dawontay Williams, 19, has since been arrested in connection with the shooting. Williams has been charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault.

He was taken into custody by Savannah Police on Monday.
