The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) schools will reopen their doors to students for the 2024-2025 School Year in just about two weeks on Aug. 1.

Upcoming important dates
Resources and dates for upcoming important events such as Open Houses , the dates for which vary by school, can be accessed via the district's recently revamped website at SCCPSS.com.
Registration assistance event
SCCPSS's in-person Registration Assistance Event for Families will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, at Southwest Middle School, 6030 Ogeechee Road, Savannah. The district asks that those who plan to attend bring copies of important required documents such as proof of residence, birth certificates and parent identification documentation.
Families who might be best served to attend are those who are new to the district and need guidance for online registration, families with expired Provisionals/Affidavit, or families with updated addresses.
The following services will be made available at the event, and some are also accessible online:
- Address Updates ― proof of residency, according to SCCPSS.com, can include a current lease or rental agreement, mortgage statement, home purchase agreement, utility bill (electric, gas, and water only), governmental mail (county, state, or federal) within the last 30 days
- Interpreters
- Student and Family Services :
- Kinship Affidavits
- Residency Affidavits
- SCCPSS McKinney Vento Homeless Liaison
- SCCPSS Foster Care Point of Contact
- Lunch applications ― Free and reduced lunch applications available July 15
- Transportation and bus route information
Back to School Expo
SCCPSS will also hold its annual Back to School Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, at the Savannah Civic Center, 301 W. Oglethorpe Ave., Savannah.
Registration assistance and many of the other services listed above will also be offered at the Expo along with additional services and resources. The district asks, once again, that those who need registration assistance bring copies of their required documents.
Families still in need of supplies lists and open house schedules can obtain them during the expo, as well. The district's press release for the event states that "admission is free and translators will be available." The district's statement also noted that "student organizations and community partners in attendance."
Attendees can also expect to see food trucks outside in the parking lot of the Civic Center.
Open houses
Each school in the district is scheduled to hold an open house during the final week of July. The earliest will be at New Hampstead High School from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m on Friday, July 25.
The majority of all other schools will occur at varying times on Tuesday, July 30. A few will occur on Wednesday July 31, again at varying times, while a few schools will hold the events on Monday, July 29.
