Windsor Forest announces hiring of new football coach, former sports standout at Bluffton

Windsor Forest has hired Chris "C.J." Frazier as the school's new football coach, athletic director Cam Turner announced Tuesday.

Frazier has three years experience coaching at Ridgeland High School in South Carolina and had taken the job at Hardeeville High School in the spring. Then, the Windsor Forest opportunity came up and he pursued the position, which includes a job teaching physical education.

Frazier, 29, was a standout three-sport athlete in his prep days at Bluffton High. He starred as a quarterback in football, in basketball as a point guard and as a middle infielder on the Bobcats' baseball team. Frazier went on to play football at Newberry College and was inducted into Bluffton's Athletic Hall of Fame last December.

Frazier replaces Jeb Stewart, who retired after four seasons leading the Knights in March.

"The Windsor Forest job appealed to me after I had an interview with the principal Miss (Joanna) Brooks," Frazier said. "It seems like there have been a lot of good things happening there under her direction. And they have a great athletic director in Mr. (Cam) Turner, he's a veteran at the school and I think that will give me a lot of balance as a young coach."

Windsor Forest will be back up in Region 3-3A with local schools after a two-year stint playing in the rugged Region 3-2A, where the Knights were isolated from Savannah schools.

"I was impressed when I got to meet the team, I think we have a lot of talent," Frazier said. "They played a tough schedule the last couple years, but I think we have some diamonds in the rough. These kids showed a lot of toughness."

Frazier and his wife, Fallon, have been together since middle school. They have a 4-year-old son, Cofi, and a younger daughter, Sage.

"Coach Frazier has a high-energy personality and he relates well with the student athletes," Turner said. "We think he'll be a great coach who can intertwine athletics and academics to help our student athletes grow and prepare them for college."
