Savannah Mayor Van Johnson announces upcoming support for Vice President Harris

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – On Sunday, Savannah Mayor Van Johnson announced his upcoming support for Vice President Kamala Harris after President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race.

“President Joe Biden has led a transformative administration that has significantly benefited millions of Americans. His decision to run was supported by millions of voters in the primaries.” Johnson announced.

The Mayor continued, “As a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, I eagerly anticipate supporting our new Presidential nominee, Vice President Harris and our new Vice-Presidential candidate next month in Chicago.”

Several lawmakers also said publicly they would support Harris as the nominee if Biden were to step aside.
