Around 2:30 p.m. Monday, when Savannah-Chatham County Public School System's (SCCPSS) Windsor Forest High School, 12419 Largo Drive, was about to let out for the day, a parent of a student called the school stating that she had spotted three males in a car with a weapon.

SCCPSS Public Information Manager Sheila Blanco confirmed the report via email and stated that the school was placed on lockdown right at dismissal time, which delayed student departures by half an hour. "When the SRO [School Resource Officer] went out to confront [the males], the males ran off," Blanco wrote.

She said police detained two of the males while a third had not been located as of 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Blanco also confirmed Tuesday afternoon that an arrest record for a male minor posted by Chatham County Sherriff's Office on Aug. 19 was directly related to the incident at Windsor Forest. The arresting agency named on the record was Savannah Board of Education Police Department (BOEPD). Charges listed on the record included possession of a pistol or revolver by person under 18 years of age - first offense; carrying a weapon in school safety zones, at school functions or on a bus; and disrupting public school. Another charge listed was "resist/obstruct/oppose law enforcement."

SMN is still awaiting updates from SCCPSS and the BOEPD about the other two males involved in the incident.

    This is a developing story.

It’s a shame. I went to that school in the late 80’s when it was a neighborhood school. Then one year they bused in kids from deeper in the city and that’s when that school started going to shit. Now the entire south side is a shit hole
