    Vote for the Savannah Morning News Football Player of the Week in an open poll

    There were some memorable high school football games played Friday night in the Greater Savannah area, highlighted by a explosive matchup between New Hampstead and host Effingham County, won by the Phoenix in the final seconds.

    Benedictine looked strong as the Cadets got their first win of the season against visiting Burke County, and Liberty County got a last second touchdown to edge Windsor Forest.

    There were some impressive individual performances and this is a chance for readers to weigh in and select the Savannah Morning News Football Player of the Week in an open poll with no restrictions on the voting.

    The poll will close on Friday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m.

    Here are this week's candidates.

    Reader Poll: Week 3 Savannah area Football Player of the Week

    Kamari Maxwell, New Hampstead

    The senior had 15 catches for 283 yards and five touchdowns, including the game winner on a 46-yard scoring reception from Ra'Shawn Truell in the final seconds of a win over Effingham County.

    Jmere Doe-Davis, Effingham County

    The sophomore ran for 81 yards and three scores on 12 carries and had four catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to New Hampstead.

    Joshua Washington, Benedictine

    The junior had six catches for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a win over Burke County.

    Ra'Shawn Truell, New Hampstead

    The senior was 33-for-49 passing for 466 yards and five touchdowns and ran for two more in the win at Effingham County.

    Tucker Perkins, Effingham County

    The junior was 19-for-23 passing for 363 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to the Phoenix.

    Stephen Cannon, Benedictine

    The junior completed 16 of 24 passes for 330 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Burke County.

    Kirk Scott, Richmond Hill

    The senior ran for 127 yards and a score on seven carries and threw a touchdown pass in a win over Everglades (Fla.).

    Isaiah Redmond, Savannah Christian

    The senior had seven tackles and a pair of sacks in a win over Providence Christian.

    Thomas Blackshear, Calvary Day

    The senior had 10 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown in a loss at Oceanside Collegiate (S.C.).

    Joshua Ulrich-Troupe, Richmond Hill

    The senior ran for 83 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 15 carries and caught a 25-yard scoring pass in the win over Everglades.

    Coray Stafford, Jenkins

    The senior ran for 85 yards and two touchdowns on just three carries in a win over Groves.

    Anthony Williams, Windsor Forest

    The senior had a 42-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Thomas and added a 12-yard scoring run in a loss to Liberty County.

    Jah’barri Felix, Liberty County

    The sophomore led the Panthers on the game-winning drive, culminated by a short touchdown pass in the final five seconds to Julian Gerena, in a win over Windsor Forest.

    Assir Best, Bethesda

    The senior rushed for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a loss to Hilton Head Christian.

    Marshall Saradinski, Memorial Day

    The junior had 225 total yards with one rushing touchdown and two touchdown passes, and had two two-point conversion passes and one run for a two-pointer in a win over Grace Christian.

    Amari Cook, St. Andrew's

    The junior had three catches for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns and picked off two passes, with 45 yards on returns, in a loss to Central Fellowship.
