    Vote for the Savannah Morning News Fall Athlete of the week in an open poll

    There were some excellent performances in Fall sports over the last week, with teams from the Savannah area making their presence felt in their respective sports.

    In cross country, the Savannah Arts girls won the Third Annual Blue Tide Run as Leah Nyce finished second and Frances Tedder finished third individually.

    Benedictine won the boys race in the same event as senior John Dodson won the individual race, while his teammate Cole Minnich took second.

    There were also some standout performances in volleyball and softball. Here's a chance for readers to weigh in and select the Fall Sports Athlete of the Week in an open poll with no restrictions on the voting. The poll will close on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m.

    John Dodson, Benedictine cross-country

    The senior won the Blue Tide Run with a time of 16:30.94.

    Carter Dieterich, Richmond Hill cross-country

    The sophomore finished 10th in the Wingfoot Cross Country Classic with a time of 16:11.50.

    Leah Nyce, Savannah Arts cross-country

    The senior was second in the Blue Tide Run with a time of 20:42.22.

    Benjamin Hall, Richmond Hill cross-country

    The senior ran a time of 16:28.20 to finish 20th in the Wingfoot Cross Country Classic.

    Julia Anastasio, Richmond Hill cross-country

    The sophomore finished eighth in the Wingfoot XC Classic with a time of 19:26.00

    Cole Minnich, Benedictine cross-country

    The sophomore was secone in the Blue Tide Run with a time of 16:51.88.

    Frances Tedder, Savannah Arts cross-country

    The sophomore was third in the Blue Tide race with a time of 21:11.65.

    Gabriella Francis, Richmond Hill cross-country

    The sophomore ran a time of 20:15.70 to finish 18th at the Wingfoot XC Classic.

    Sadie McGarity, Habersham School cross-country

    The freshman finished fourth in the Blue Tide Run with a time of 21:44.27.

    Hart Tedder, Jenkins cross-country

    The senior was third in the Blue Tide Run with a time of 17:21.94.

    Maggie Kyriakides, Savannah Christian volleyball

    The senior, who has committed to Alabama, had 19 kills, 16 digs and 24 services received in a win over Richmond Hill.

    Talia Johnson, Richmond Hill volleyball

    The junior, who has committed to Coastal Carolina, had 16 kills and four aces in a win over Savannah Arts.

    Reese Theriot, Savannah Christian volleyball

    The senior had 13 kills and 10 digs in the win over Richmond Hill.

    Danni Lynn, South Effingham softball

    The sophomore had a three-run homer and drove in four runs in a win over Statesboro. She leads the team with a .450 batting average, five homers and 30 RBI.
