Author to speak on Chippewa Flowage history
John Dettloff, co-owner of Indian Trail Resort and famous musky fishing guide, will be the guest speaker at a special program hosted by The Stone Lake Area Historical Society and Sawyer County Historical Society at 7 p.m. Thursday July 25 at the Stone Lake Lions Community Center. Dettloff will speak about his newly-published book, “Whispers of the Past, a history of the Chippewa Flowage.” Admission is free and light refreshments will be served. School board approves hours, fees for fitness center
Hayward Community School Board members on Monday July 15 approved hours and fees for community members to use the newly-constructed Tamarack Health Fitness Center at the high school. City council approves school resource officer contract
At their postponed regular meeting July 10, the Hayward City Council approved an agreement with the Hayward Community School District to provide two sworn full-time police officers as School Resource Officers (SROs) to work in the schools during the 186-day school year in 2024-25 when students are present. In an effort to alleviate congestion at a heavily-used boat landing, the Town of Hayward Board voted July 12 to purchase 1.5 wooded acres across Linden Road from the town’s boat landing on Round Lake. The game for the July 5t Lakeview Golf and Pizza Friday Morning Ladies’ Golf League was Best Poker Hand on Holes 5-9. Louise Henk took first place with three of a kind.
