    HHS girls hoops wins two, improves to 14-7

    The Hayward Hurricanes girls basketball team posted wins over Chetek-Weyerhaeuser and Spooner last week to improve their season record to 11-4 in the Heart O’ North Conference and 14-7 overall.

    Alivia Poppe had 21 points and Avery Poppe had 18 in the Canes’ 60-42 win at Chetek on Feb. 1.

    Alivia Poppe had 13 points and Greta Schmitt had 12 in the Canes’ 43-20 win at Spooner on Feb. 3.

    The Hurricanes will host first place St. Croix Falls this Friday. They will finish their regular season at Ladysmith on Feb. 15.
