    HHS girls soccer tops Spooner, 3-0

    The Hayward Hurricanes girls soccer team shut out the

    Spooner Rails 3-0 on April 30 at Heidi Friermood Field to earn their second win of the season.

    Hayward’s first goal came when Kylie MattMiller gained a penalty kick from a rough play in the box. Kendra Gunn stepped up to take the penalty kick and converted it for a 1-0 lead for the Hurricanes.

    The next goal came from Kelsey Carothers, who placed the ball low and left of the goalie for a 2-0 lead.

    With less than a minute left in the game, Kendra Gunn collected the ball at the top of the box from a goal kick and put a long shot on goal for the Canes’ final score.

    Kendal DeCora took the win as goalie in net.

    “With injuries on the team, this game allowed us to put players in different positions to help us prepare for our upcoming games, that will dictate our place come the seeding meeting for regionals,” said Coach Anne Kriskovich.
